Born on July 1st, 1970, in Mainz, Germany,

Amir Samii studied medicine at Hannover Medical School. He obtained his medical and scientific training in Neurosurgery at Charité University Hospital Berlin, at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and at the Neurosurgical Clinic in Hannover.

In 2002, he became Associate Professor, in 2008, Full Professor of Neurosurgery at Hannover Medical School.

He was appointed Vice Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at INI Hannover in 2004, and Vice President of INI Hannover in 2008.


Functions in scientific societies among others:

  • Chairman of the Neurosurgical Technology Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (since 2005)
  • Member of the Education and Training Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (since 2009)
  • Member of the Neuroendoscopy Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (since 2009)
  • Founding Member and Member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the German Society for Computer and Robot-assisted Surgery CURAC
